Got a scratchy throat today. Don't know why. It's a gorgeous day though. Going to wash the dishes in a bit.
Supposed to be around 80 this weekend. Lower 80s here on the coast, mid to upper 80s further inland.
Great way to start April! :)

Nice Saturday
if a bit cool and breezy. But it did not get down to 34 like they predicted.
So we went to a gun show in New Bern this morning. We like to look mostly, though hubby did buy some ammo for the rifle he's had since we lived in Alaska.
Then we went to Greenville and watched How to Train Your Dragon. We were a bit concerned because it's a 3-D movie, and the 3-D glasses don't work well, since we both wear glasses; but we were happily surprised that this movie -- and the glasses -- seemed to be a better version of 3-D. We really enjoyed it.
A mix of Ratatouille, Lilo and Stitch, and Shrek, and... I'm not sure, lol. But we had a good time watching it. :)
Both boys are off work tomorrow, so I think Hubby will get them to help him check the bearings on the tires of the trailer. :)
And that's all I can think of right now. We'll see if it gets cold tonight like they predicted for the weekend.

Ugh.
What a day.
I've been having 'flashes' in my eye. More or less normal, but since the eye doctor told me to call if I had them, I called and they got me in today. As it turns out, it was nothing, but he said the detachment would continue to completion, probably in the next three months so while I was okay today, I need to keep going in, just in case it should tear the lining of my eye. Because if that happens, I will need surgery to prevent blindness.
I asked him about the health care bill. He has actually read some of it, so I was interested in what he thought. He said that it mostly looked okay to him, but it would make costs go up. And since my health care didn't cover today's visit, I paid for it.
Then when I was going to the alteration place to have a blanket mended, I hear this HUGE BOOM as I'm driving across the street. I looked back expecting to see car parts in the street, as the car is suddenly driving like a tank. :/ But I didn't see anything, so I went carefully to the tailor, which was within' view of the eye doctor I had left.
Then I took a back way home because I could drive more slowly with the steering as messed up as it was. About halfway home, I noticed the engine was getting hot.
So I pulled into the parking lot of a youth center to look at the engine. I saw a belt wrapped around the fan, so I thought well, if I remove that belt, then the fan will work (Yes, I am that challenged, haha).
But, the belt could not just be pulled out, and I am too short to be able to reach into that area easily. So I called my son and asked him to bring my foot stool.
My youngest son was taking my middle son to work though, so I had to wait about 40 minutes for him to get to where I was. In the meantime, I managed to get hold of my husband at work, who informed me that, no, removing the belt would not get the fan running, because the belt ran the fan and the power steering. So, when my son got there, I told him what my husband had said. My son - who has never done any more auto work than required to complete a very short class in high school - said, "Well, it looks simple enough. Let's just get a belt and I'll change it."
This is the son who never volunteers for dirty work. My husband was willing to let him try, because otherwise it would not have been fixed before he got off work at 5. So, we went and got a belt. Took about 30 minutes because I didn't know everything I needed to know, and neither did my husband. He would have had a way to find the information if he had been at home, but anyway, with enough questions -- and measuring the biggest part of the old belt -- the salesman at the auto store sold me a belt and we took it back to my car.
My son tried lots of things to get the belt on - including swearing, much to my embarrassment - but nothing worked. When my husband called a third time to see how we were doing, he was able to explain to my son about the... tension arm? that needed to be lifted to get the belt on the last pully. Once my son was able to figure out how it moved, we got the belt on. Yay! My son was not about to stop until the belt was on, because he couldn't lose to something that went around in circles, hehe.
Then we came home and the garage door opener broke the same way the belt in my car did. But it sounds like hubby just got that fixed, too.
When it rains, it pours. We're expecting rain tonight. ;)

This is kind of funny...
Narcissism Epidemic spreads among college students.
People who have an unfounded and undeserved sense of entitlement...
Made me laugh, anyway. ;)

Nice day
We had a really nice day today.
Went to the flea market in Little Washington. There were a lot of people there. We didn't buy anything, but we looked at a lot of stuff.
Then we came home and I did some laundry while hubby and son painted the box we're going to load with some of the stuff we're moving to Louisiana.
That's all I know. It's bedtime.
Enjoy your snow, bro!
*hugs* ♥

Ides of March
Wow. Hard to believe March is half over. Finished our taxes last week. Well, I finished them last month actually, but I actually included the payment information and sent the return in last week. No joy in Mudville here.
Had an eye exam last week. My eyes improved a tiny bit. I still have astigmatism, but the doctor said it had changed about 40% so he checked my eyes to find out why. My left eye has PVD or Posterior Vitreous Detachment. He said it's actually normal in a lot of people over the age of 50. He also said it wasn't completely detached, just partially.
And that if I see multiple flashes of light, or a lot of floaties in my eyes, I need to get in touch with him as quickly as possible; because while it might be nothing, there is the chance the rest of it could (will?) detach as well and tear something.
Not much else to say here. The weather was really nice over the weekend. (70f or 21c) Wish it could be this temperature year round. ;)

Happy Birthday, Bob
He doesn't know it yet, but we're taking him out to dinner. A sort of new restaurant called Carolina Grill.
It used to be a Ham's, but a month or so after it opened, it became a Carolina Grill. Same for the one in James City.
Don't know why but it is strange; especially when you go to their website and it says Hams on the webpage.
Ken and I tried it and we thought it was really good so we decided to take Bob. Hopefully he will like it, too.

I guess it's a good thing that
The Chile earthquake shortened our day. Because according to Discovery News, we're getting closer to a 25 hour day. I guess all that hoping for more hours in a day will be true soon. ;)
See their article here: http://news.discovery.com/earth/top-5-ways-to-mess-with-earths-day.html
Still no discussion of the shifting magnetic poles. Guess they don't want people to freak out completely.. :)
Hope you're all well today!

What happens to February?
See this article here about the Chile earthquake? ( http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/03/02/chile.quake/index.html?eref=rss_world&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+rss/cnn_world+(RSS:+World)&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher ) Well, if earthquakes are really shortening our days, then what happens to the 29th of February? Do we really need to have it to make the calendar balance out?
Yes, I think of strange things sometimes.
And while they are talking about earthquakes changing the earth's axis, why no talk of the changing magnetic poles? I mean, this magnetic shift could be causing the earthquakes and a lot of the crazy weather, too. (See one article here: http://gizmodo.com/5434876/mysterious-earths-core-plume-shifting-the-magnetic-north-pole )
There was an interesting show on the National Geographic Channel, I think it was. Or maybe Discovery Channel, haha, on the shifting magnetic poles and how we are overdue for a flip.
Oh well. Happy Tuesday. :)
