About Me

My photo
Retired, housewife, mother of three. Picking up the pieces after God decided the 145 year old farmhouse was no longer the house for us. Praise God for His mercy and love!

Been a hot summer

And very dry. They are promising to prosecute anyone burning anything.

They had to back off of telling the LSU fans they couldn't tailgate this weekend at the game, though. The original announcement that it would not be allowed went over worse than a lead balloon, haha. They will allow the tailgate BBQs.

Old house looks cool enough in the hundred degree heat we've been having, don't you think?

We had a thunderstorm blow through. Lowered the temp to 78. It's starting to climb, but fortunately it's 1530, so not enough time to heat back up a lot. Not enough to stop the burn ban, but a blessing from the Lord all the same.

As is the generator He had us install. Whole house (the trailer / manufactured home is only 50x26) generator that we have needed four times now in the last two and a half weeks. No explanation from the electric co-op. Makes me thankful for the propane that our stupid government wants to outlaw.

Lord forgive me, but I hate the people behind the scenes that have too much money..

Flea market Saturday tomorrow!

You all be safe and God bless.

Thought I would show you a few things.

The power pole that so many people helped us get.

The nasturtiums and Mini Munch cucumbers I planted the start of the lockdown.
They were on the south side of the house. The side hit by the tornado.

Haven't been able to get to the tub with the green beans in it, yet. Or the fig tree in a while, Between wind and rain.. Hoping God will bless us there, too.

You all be safe. Please remember us in your prayers. When they talk of the possibility of severe weather, I have to ask God to strengthen my faith.

God bless and thank Him for all you have.

Fortunately nature is not home bound.

Catalpa trees are blooming. Sorry for poor photos, but the blooms are way up at the tops of the trees, making them hard to photograph.

I'm just sad we never get catalpa worms. I blame all the spraying they do to farm the back field.

Still, right now it is a pretty day. Breezy. Supposedly rain in the afternoon. I know it was really foggy when I got up this morning. We'll see if it rains.

You all be safe and God bless.

The yard still looks the same

Figs are a little bigger.

Pecan flowers are numerous. I hope this bodes well for the coming pecan season.

Cucumbers and nasturtiums are coming along.

And it's a banner year for blackberry/dewberries, it would seem.

Apparently they will start reopening the economy. About time. I need my flea markets and farmers markets!
Be safe and God bless.

A video from yesterday

Not sure you will hear the specific bird. It was funny. I recorded it for a sound that I was listening to. When I played it back, I was surprised at all the other sounds that I had not heard. Or was used to hearing.

However, hubby heard the repeating sound that now seemed to be buried in the background, and helped me identify it. An Inca Dove.

Our little part of Louisiana is the extreme Eastern edge of its habitat. Nice!

I hope you are all doing well. God bless

Don't know what to say

so I'll say it with pictures.

The fig tree is leafing out.

As is one of the pecan trees.

Something else is enjoying spring. UGH. I've already been bitten once this year.

Wildflower border between our property and the farmland behind us.

Bull thistle. I've recently found out that they are edible. Best when young. Cook like asparagus.

Plenty of oak tree pollen around here.

Blackberries growing.

Spring has sprung.

Praise God for all he gives.

You all be safe and try not to die of boredom. God bless!
