About Me

My photo
Retired, housewife, mother of three. Picking up the pieces after God decided the 145 year old farmhouse was no longer the house for us. Praise God for His mercy and love!

The only spider I like

Spider Lily

They're blooming and I love seeing them because they just pop up over night!

We've been mowing like crazy. Trying to think of what needs to be done.
We're taking a trip tomorrow. Hubby's sister isn't well, so we're going to see her, then go on to NC, and check on the boys.
Be gone about a week.
May be a tropical depression to follow us. In other words lots of rain.
We'll see.
Hope you all will be safe, happy, and blessed. ♥

I missed St. Patrick's Day

We've been really busy. I've had little time on the internet. I've fallen behind on so many blogs, sorry. I only just realized that yesterday was St. Patrick's Day.
Hubby did not have his surgery today. He had to get approval from his heart doctor and today was the earliest they could get him in.
Now we wait and see if the doctors do their parts. He is not going to contact anyone. He would like to put it off until July.
We've been trying to get things done that he wants done before his surgery.
He made his first screen door this week. It's a learning process, but it should fit the kitchen door that others replaced.
We've been living in the house.
He wants to use old air conditioners that will be energy hogs. I want fans in all the rooms, but we need dozens of window screens.
So we'll see how it goes tonight with just fans. We may sleep in the trailer on hot nights. It's a smaller area to cool.

Here are some pictures of my messy kitchen...

That big pan between the sink and the stove is my rinsing pan, since I only have one sink.
Then there's the pantry. The shelf on the left was beaten into submission by the hubby. ;-)

Hubby says these little red flowers are red clover.

And these pretty little yellow flowers are blooming all over, too.

Hope you are all doing well! I hope to have more time sometime! God bless and have a wonderful week! ♥

Sorry I haven't been updating much.

Will try to post pictures soon.
We've been a little busy. Not just working on the house but trying to enjoy retirement.
I don't have the online time I had when hubby worked a paying job out of the home. I usually only get an hour or three in the evening before bed and I use that time to read and comment on your blogs. ;o)
The rest of my time is spent with the hubby.

So, sorry about that.

We've had the kitchen measured for counters.
Gotten a plywood floor on one of the bathrooms.
Kept the place mowed.
Replaced the main water line due to a leak that couldn't be found in the one we put in two or so years ago.
Gone fishing several times.
Played with mending clothes.
And are now into picking up pecans.

Watched a humming bird today.
And a Pileated Woodpecker.
And a hawk flew over my head to land in an oak tree in the pasture.
No pictures of the hawk though, I was picking pecans at the time.

Maybe I have a picture I haven't posted yet.

Oh. I know. We have a pecan tree that we are trying to get the local electric company, or Department of Public Safety, to trim for us because we don't have $2000 to do it ourselves -- and they would have to be there for it to be done anyway!

Both of them have been contacted by us several times to try and mitigate our liability if something should happen and the 'branch' come down by an act of God. I use branch loosely because the trunk is actually divided somewhere above the fence line and one half is what goes over the power lines and half of the roadway.

Oh well.
God bless! ♥

Google is really annoying. >:\

They removed access to my blog and gmail until I agreed to give them my phone number for verification purposes.
So, I'm back now.
I know I haven't been updating a lot. There are numerous reasons.

1) I actually have a life now, haha! I know many of you have a much fuller life and still manage to post, but now that it is just hubby and I, I need to please him, too. When he worked, I had hours to fill.

2) Our internet is slow. We use our phones, tethered to our laptops. We are Alltel grandfathered Verizon customers. And I've read how they treat grandfathered, unlimited data customers. Sometimes the internet is so slow I can't even read blogs, let alone try to do a post. I get frustrated and just give up.

3) I mostly only have the evenings on the internet. Today is a benefit of Tropical Storm Isaac - who didn't give us as much weather as a good thunderstorm.
Hubby likes the internet for researching things - like the asbestos tile in the farmhouse - or getting a good deal off eBay. He doesn't understand my blogging or reading blogs. So he thinks I spend too much time on the internet, even though I've cut my time back probably 90%.
Oh well.

I'll leave you with a few pictures, if Verizon and Google will play nice.
The BIL came down for 2 days. I recognized the compulsion that we had in our short trips, and that we had when we first got here. He helped a lot.

He helped with clearing brush and putting in new water lines.

Still getting used to the heat. We work in the mornings, when it's not raining and do our running around in the afternoon.

You all have a great day and a wonderful weekend if I don't see you before then!

Just a quick post

Before I go back to laying floor tiles.
I apologize in advance for the quality. Took the pictures with my phone.

This is a tree of poison ivy.

And before you say anything. Yes, I know it's not a real tree. ;o)
It grew on a crepe myrtle and broke it. Well, something broke it; so it lays against the fence. Those nice, big, green leaves? That's some healthy (!) poison ivy.

And here at the entrance to our property? Better keep your eyes open. Don't just wander in...

Because if you're not careful, this green above the side gate? Yup. That's poison ivy, too.

Am doing my best to catch up, but not quite making it. Sorry.
I do love you all and I think about you all, too.
Have a blessed day! ♥

Just a note to let you know we're still here.

Literally and figuratively.
We're doing okay. Trying to stay cool while trying to pack and not seeming to make any headway.

Hubby got sick right before bed, then felt better. With the heat, his lunch sat in his stomach for EIGHT HOURS. He told me "You'd think with everything I drank to stay hydrated, it would have flushed it out."
But at least he felt better when we went to bed.

We'll be on the road sometime tomorrow. And probably have to come back one last time to get the last of it. Seems like with all that we've already moved, packed, given away or tossed, we've barely made a dent.
How do you collect so much stuff?

We're getting a hotel room tonight so we can pack our bed.

38 years on Friday.

60 for me today.

He jokingly told me I was officially over the hill.

I told him I was not.

But this heat and humidity certainly lets me know I am not in my 20s any more.

If you celebrate the 4th, have a safe one! (And thank you for celebrating my birthday, Haha!)

If you don't, have a safe day anyway!

I may be out of touch for as much as a week or two, if we do have to make a second trip back to get the rest of our stuff, we're going to drop this load, get a night's sleep and come back.

Just know that I think about you all and hope you all stay safe and well.

God bless us, everyone. ♥
