Strange sight in the sky

We saw this on Sunday, coming back from Pineville, about one in the afternoon.

Never saw one before. I did a bit of research, but mostly couldn't find out what causes them.
I suppose it could have been an airplane.
Daily temps have been in the low to mid 70s for about a week now.

Oh well.
