Hummingbird

I went out for a bit this morning. Mid 70s. Nice!

And I saw a hummingbird! I tried to get a video but it didn't work. Well, I could see it but I knew what I was looking for. :)

So I'll post the two pictures I think you might like.

Hummingbird and morning glory.

And a picture of the hummingbird resting on a branch.

I have bird feeders out. Not hummingbird feeders because Louisiana has enough wasps without attracting them more. But regular seed feeders. We have one sparrow that doesn't fly very well, and I think there is something wrong with it's legs because whenever it lands, for the most part, it sits on its stomach and doesn't stand on its legs.

Here is a picture when it got confused and landed on the ramp right in front of my scooter!

One of my sons had been watching for me to come back in. He walked out slowly and the bird began flying. For a moment I thought it might land on the bird feeder, but it ended up on the lower level of the ramp. I think it mostly doesn't see so well, either. It is often sleeping at night in the bowl feeder I have.

I am thankful that the new storm in the Gulf/Caribbean will miss Louisiana. Now I pray for Florida.

You all be safe and God bless.

It's that time of year.

And the Spider Lilies have had their first visitor (that I saw).

Can you see him? I know it's a him because even though it doesn't show here, I saw the red throat when he flew up to land on our power line.

I praised God for showing me both, as I was fairly upset up until that point. I'm still... frustrated; but I know God is with me.

You all be safe and God bless.

Finally!

Like a lot of you, we have hummingbirds. Unlike a lot of you, I don't hang feeders because I know I might not keep them filled or properly cleaned. Better they eat somewhere else.
That said, they love morning glories! We have a lot of wild morning glories around here. Every fence line, many oak and pecan trees, the out buildings and by the house and garage.
Like this.

And this.

The last couple of days I've been watching them out the back door. In spite of all the flowers, they don't like to share. Not with each other, or with the bees. Bees like this love the morning glories, too.

There is one little female that I think has made the yard part of her territory. (Obviously I don't know this for sure); because the last couple days, I've watched her feed by the garage. She feeds some. Then sits on one of the bare grape vine branches for a bit, then feeds some more. I think she goes to all the flowers at least twice. Probably more.

Here she is feeding.

And here she is in her favorite resting spot.

I finally got a picture of one of our hummingbirds. :-)

Hope you all have a wonderful, safe, blessed weekend. ♥

This is our back fence line.

We are sort of working on a small garden test plot behind the garage. People have put a lot of garbage back there so we are digging out tin cans, glass, and so on. It wasn't like that when we lived here in '94.

Anyway, we noticed butterflies flying around the fence line. I took a bunch of pictures, but only a few turned out, after cropping them.

All we think we can say for sure is they are some sort of swallowtails.

I think they were around some sort of berry plant/vine like this one.

Whatever they are interested in, it was not the elderberries, which look quite different, as you can see from the upper right corner of this picture.

We've been getting visits from hummingbirds, too, but I've not had my camera when I see them, sorry.

Hope you all have a blessed Friday! ♥
