Wouldn't you know it?
While our garden has been drowning, middle son found this while doing some weed eating along the needs-to-be-repaired back fence line.
Cantaloupe vines. With melons!
Hope you all have a blessed weekend. ♥

Two and a quarter inches.
Is how much rain we got yesterday. The pasture garden looks like this:
The tomatoes are pretty much dead. Glad I made hills for the cantaloupe! They have started to sprout, but I didn't chance going out there.
I didn't take pictures of the cucumbers, don't know why I keep forgetting; but they are growing very well and blooming.
Me, with my 'walking hoe', as I checked over the garden.
I'll try to take more/better pictures next time.
Have a blessed week! :-)

Thank you, Lord
For watching over us and keeping us safe.
Hope you all have a blessed week! ♥
P.S. Just wanted to add a picture for my brother, who has been having a lot of rain, too.
The Red River, in town, is at 35.7 feet. Only three feet above flood stage; but with all the rain we've gotten today.. Fortunately, there are a lot of levees protecting us from the river.
Oh, the numbers tell the boats/ships the clearance to the bottom of the bridge. :-)

Yes, I am still here.
The end of May, and the first part of June was wet, wet, wet. We ended up with around six and a half inches of rain. The ground here is about 80% clay; or what people around here like to call Red River gumbo. It is very mucky when wet.
We also have a high water table. When planting our 'orchard', we hit water at roughly three to three and a half feet, if I remember right. After all the rain we had in April, the ground didn't want to drain very well.
I didn't get pictures of the plants standing in several inches of water for just as many days; but I can show you what they look like.
Pole beans. Puny, at best.
The tomatoes, I think, may be a loss.
As are the bell peppers.
The cucumbers, however, LOVED the rain, and are doing quite well. (It rained a lot during April and May. The garden was late getting planted. A lot of the commercial farmers were late planting, too.)
So in an effort to make up for lost time, we have planted a half-barrel with strawberries, a tub with bell peppers, a sun sugar tomato, more pole beans (which have not sprouted yet), and some flowers to give me something to look at when I wash dishes.
We also planted the tire beds with pole beans and tomato plants. I planted some beans in the bin with the carrots, too. They are Blue Lake, and a green bean called Garden of Eden. Looking forward to trying that, if we can get them to grow.
Can't complain though. We are blessed not to have gone through what Texas went through.
Hope you are all doing well! Have a wonderful, blessed week. ♥
