About Me

My photo
Retired, housewife, mother of three. Picking up the pieces after God decided the 145 year old farmhouse was no longer the house for us. Praise God for His mercy and love!

Our home to be

You remembered I mentioned a manufactured home.
We need more yard cleanup done before they will be able to hook into the septic tank.
Hubby decided he wants gas instead of propane, so we need to get that done.
We will salvage the 80 gallon propane water heater we bought a year or so ago, though, and figure a way to hook it into the new place somehow. The most they come with is a 40 gallon water heater.

The dealer seems to think maybe September, but with all the covid stuff, I don't know. I thought maybe October. I know lumber costs have gone up about $6000.

All in God's hands.  :)

So if you are curious, here is a rough outline.

We opted for a different bathroom. That's why the masking tape.

Small compared to the old farmhouse; but it will seem a lot bigger after this apartment.  :-)

Going to V/Watts this weekend. See some friends we haven't seen in months and get some eggs.

You all be safe and God bless.

Pecan season

Is almost here.

We lost a bit over half of the trees old enough to produce.
But at least one is giving it a go. :)

Thank God for all your blessings. Be safe and God bless.

Hard to believe it's already August.

Progress is slow, but getting there.

We've gotten more stuff moved out of the house. The washer works. Only three cycles; but it's enough to not have to pay extra to do laundry now. And I already told you about the dryer, so praise God! :)

Some people who do demolition came by. They have offered to tear the house down and remove everything for the barter of keeping (or probably selling) what they can use. They have burn pits to handle the rest. I thank God for them. Years ago - seems weird to say that; but it's been 12 years since we started driving back and forth to the farm -- Hubby and I and the two boys could have given it a good go ourselves. But with health issues (not to mention lack of real training); it just isn't happening quite so much now.

The word we got today was our manufactured home might be ready by October. That would be nice.

We had some feathered visitors the other day. Coming to see what they might kick up in the mowed part of the yard.

You all be safe. Praise God for all you have. God bless.

A nice Saturday

Went to the flea market. Lots of people there. All wearing masks. Would have been more enjoyable without one. They make me hotter (heat index was 107 today) and I have trouble breathing; but other than that, it was an enjoyable day.

Have to start buying sheets again. Not sure how it happened; but I ended up missing sheets after the tornado tore the roof off our house/bedroom.

Anyway, there's a real nice lady there I've been buying the sheets from.

We like these sheets a lot.

Good fuel prices in Opelousas, too.

Got a nice roast for Sunday from Rouses. No picture, sorry.
Shopped a few other places.

It was nice to get out. Too bad it wasn't a normal day; but it was nice anyway.

I'm hoping to go to a flea market in Livingston in August to see some friends we haven't seen in months; but we have to go through Baton Rouge to get there and hubby says there is a high incidence of the virus there so I don't know if we will go or not.

You all be safe. Thank God for your blessings.
