Retired, housewife, mother of three.
Picking up the pieces after God decided the 145 year old farmhouse was no longer the house for us.
Praise God for His mercy and love!
I know, right? They only loan if you are buying the property and the/a home. We don't understand it; but we talked to a fairly reputable company about it.
And it told us that a loan offer we got was definitely bad, though not necessarily intentionally bad.
Yeah. Kind of like banks, I guess. If you have money, you can get a loan. If you don't have money, you can't get a loan. I guess if we have land, we don't need help with a house?
It was one of those little moments that kept chipping away at my faith in the system. My twin brother has had to fight the VA but eventually he won his case. I've got bad knees and flat feet that started when I was a paratrooper. I've thought about the VA benefits a few times but then I remember the multi page application and stack of hoops to jump through and I always screw that, I'll just take some more aspirin.
They have changed the system. You can actually submit online now. And you can often get someone associated with the DAV to help you with your application.
You may have to see a doctor to verify; but the VA pays for that and I believe they pay mileage also.
Perhaps you should try again. You have nothing to lose but a little time. I definitely understand your frustration though.
What the hell???

It's sad, but the VA Home Loan program isn't designed for what you need. Dang it.
ReplyDeleteThat seems very contrariwise. Very.

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that, Fred.
