So this trip, one of my brothers and his wife came down to help us. He works in construction so he knows a lot about the kind of stuff we need to do to get the house livable again. It's a long trip from Michigan so it meant a lot to us that they were willing to use their vacation time to do it, too.
Of course the first two days they were there, it rained. We all drove to New Orleans on Tuesday, since we couldn't do what we needed to while it was raining; but we did get beignets at Cafe du Monde! Yummy!
Anyway. Remember the steps I showed you in this post here?
Well, here is how they look now.
Don't they look great? My brother did a fantastic job! And he did them in a day and a half, and made the stringers for them, too. My husband helped with setting the posts for the steps, but after that it was all my brother while the husband did mowing and my sister-in-law and I finished painting the kitchen.
And I thought I should post a picture of my brother, sister-in-law, and me.
Yup. We're standing on the steps. I love those steps. :)
I agree, very nice steps. I wish I had a brother like that. You are pretty lucky.
ReplyDeleteCCC, yes I am. And I will always have the steps as a reminder. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Steps are a difficult project. That was very nice of your relatives to help you with this. :)
ReplyDeleteNancy, they definitely are. I have only to look at the front steps to see that.
ReplyDeleteAnd it would have taken the hubby and I much longer to do them, and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have been so good.
I am very grateful that my brother (and sister-in-law) was willing to come out and help us! :)
ah he did a great job on the steps. You should be proud!!!
ReplyDeleteNicole, I am, for sure! :)
ReplyDeleteHooray for the steps! Each step of this house is so exciting-pun intended (insert eye roll here! :) )
ReplyDeleteCheyenne, hahahahaha!!!!! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week! :)
They do look good!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice you all went to New Orleans. Love that place!
They do indeed, Wayne. We had a good time in NO. Lots of rain, but a good time. :)
