Retired, housewife, mother of three.
Picking up the pieces after God decided the 145 year old farmhouse was no longer the house for us.
Praise God for His mercy and love!
I've never noticed an ant of this magnitude before and luckily never bitten by one, either. I was going to leave an empty comment, this being 'wordless wednesday' but, I decided it didn't count for comments. hehehe
Oh my gosh, I have never seen one of these. I certainly would not want to get in their way, I don't like any kinds of bullets! :-) Amazing little beauties though.
Well, around here our ants arn't near so interesting but still dangerous. I had one get in my eye once, worse than childbirth, I swear. Did you know that windex kills em dead. I was hanging a tire swing for the grandkids on the only tree around (not many trees on the prairie) and noticed I was standing on an ant hill just as they started biting my legs. I ran to the house (peeling off all my clothes as I ran) got the windex and went back. I stood right on the hill, let them crawl on my shoes and legs and sprayed the beans out of them. They died. Awesome stuff that Windex (apparently has a nerve agent or something like that in it, so watch out using it on your windows, if it kills ants like that).
Okay, I don't have my glasses on. What am I looking at? A bug? Haha! I'm old.
ReplyDeleteNancy, you are correct. My hubby said it's a bullet ant, because if it bites you it feels like you've been shot.
ReplyDeleteAs if fire ants aren't enough.
I am not a shoe person, but I will get used to them!
OOOOOh, once there was a silly old ant, thought he'd move a rubber tree plant.......
ReplyDeleteSorry, ya'll know how I love to belt out a great tune. I need to practice my self~control. Heeehehehe!
That is one mighty lookin' ant there.
God bless ya and have a terrific Tuesday sweetie!!! :o)

Your self control is fine, Nezzy!
And thank you. You all have a great weekend! :)

ReplyDeleteI know, Jojo. Eww. :)
ReplyDeleteI do not like these...they sting!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture.
Yep, I think I would become a boot person with tha thing crawling about
ReplyDeleteGail, I think I am not going to like them, either. But at least they are big enough to see, unlike many fire ants!
ReplyDeleteDoc, that is something I am going to find when we get there. A pair of boots that fit!

Mike, I'm hoping the fact that this is the first one I've seen, means I won't see one again. ;)

ReplyDeleteIt was quite interesting, Lana.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope I don't see another one, haha!

Leontien
Red is always bad in the animal world, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Leontien. You, too. ♥
If that is a red bug, I really don't want any around here. I wonder if the chickens would eat it? Stay safe!
