Retired, housewife, mother of three.
Picking up the pieces after God decided the 145 year old farmhouse was no longer the house for us.
Praise God for His mercy and love!
I think there was a segment on How It's Made that talked about that; but all I've ever seen are the fires when they burn the leaves off, and the trucks loaded with the chopped up canes heading to wherever it goes. :)
And sometimes at flea markets there will be canes for sale. :)
In all my years in Houston and traveling the south, I don't ever remember seeing sugar cane growing. Now - I must have seen it and not known what it was.
God bless, Linda and happy election night (and probably week. heh)
Adrienne, I don't think I've ever taken a picture of sugar cane, but it basically looks like tall thick grass. (High as an elephant's eye, haha!) They plant it once and have a crop for three harvests (which I think is basically three years) before they have to replant or rotate. :)
I would like to see how they actual get the sugar from the cane.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandi! :)
