About Me

Ever wonder what

The old single wire electric looked like?

You can see some of the insulators here.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

Here's praying that God will have mercy on us in 2021.

Be safe and God bless you all.

Brother-in-law sent this to me today.

Was a real surprise. Just over 46 years ago. :)

Hubby, me, my mom and dad. Was nice seeing my dad again.

You all be safe and God bless. Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year to us all.

An update for you

Whose email I don't have or can't find right now.

Some of you know a little about our new home.

I call it a trailer; but the term is manufactured home now.

The big hold up has been financing. And as we came to learn, lack of people who can or were willing to do the job. The finance hold up was on the dealer's side.

After looking at many dealers we decided on Titan Homes.
Why not a real house? Cost.  More than double a manufactured home.
There are pros and cons; but we feel that this is where the Lord lead us.

After a few months of nothing happening, we learned the manager of the local Titan dealer had torn his rotator cuff, and had surgery.

Then we learned the dealership had lost the lease to the property because they weren't willing to pay a million and a half dollars for the property.

Then the manager who had taken over our sale contracted covid. Praise God he recovered quickly.
However the dealership has to have all the trailers off the property by the end of the month or some sort of lein type could be placed on them.

So our home was sort of delivered today, to protect it from some sort of civil action possibility.
The ground is so wet right now they had to use a caterpillar type tracked vehicle to get the two sections in.
More rain is expected this weekend. Don't know when the dirt pad will be able to be done because of how wet it is.

But we are one step closer. :-))

You all be safe and God bless.

Short update

 Remember this?

The wall of logs, branches and stumps?

The fire department came out Friday and we lit it. They said for green wood - being just cut even though several of the trees were dead - it burned much faster than they expected.

We need to figure a way to get that big stump into the burn pit. When the tree people came Wednesday and Thursday the pit was already full. No good weather to burn. They did the best they could, but this stump is on the edge of the burn pit. It would be too big for our little tractor, even if out tractor hadn't decided to break last week.

Friday night it poured, and we discovered a leak in the little RV. Right over our bed, of course, haha.

So I pulled the bedspread off and threw on a dry bedspread and a mattress protector to keep us dry so we could finish sleeping.

No flea market because of that. Got the boys out to see if they could fix the skylight.

The burn pile looked like this Saturday.

Yup. Still smoldering. There was still a good fire inside, but I didn't get a picture of it. That's the magic of a burn pit, I guess you call it. It burns a lot hotter and it's hard to put out.

But the fire department said once it's contained below ground, so to speak, it's usually not a problem any more.

And tonight, a thunderstorm and more rain. Will be interesting to see if the burn pit is still burning when we go out tomorrow.

You all be safe and God bless.  :)

I now have tri-focals

I know some of you don't like masks; but we had lunch with our sales person, who just got over covid.

And hubby is high risk. So.

Are you my mommy?  😉

Love you all. Be safe and God bless!

Last of November

Yes, the house is still standing. Good workers are hard to find for some reason.

No, no home yet, for a multitude of reasons.

God is in control. God is great. God will continue to provide. I believe that.

You all be safe and God bless.

Our Saturday

Thought I should update this and show you what we got. Besides a nice walk, we bought this.

It flashes different colors, neighs and makes clopping sounds while it moves around in circles.

Scares the cats a good deal, haha!  :)

After the flea market we shopped a bit in Lafayette. Got a belt for pants, some really nice asian pears, and some very good stir fry noodles.

On the way back we stopped in Opelousas and filled up for $1.81 a gallon for diesel.

A very good day all around. :)

Again, be safe and God bless!

Gorgeous day for a flea market

You all be safe and God bless.

More on the sugar cane

 Sugar cane 🙂

And harvester.

Did you know there is an airport a quarter mile from our house?

That's the windsock, haha. You won't see any international flights here. Not even short hops, though I can't swear to that.

That's it. Dirt - well, grass strip. Retired (due to medical) Air Force pilot bought it. Keeps his plane there and does medivac occasionally.

I forget his name. 😐 Only met him once by chance when we were here on one of our marathon North Carolina trips. Bad knee just like hubby had back then.

You all be safe and keep praying. Don't forget to thank God for all you have.

God bless.

Sugar cane harvest time

May God bless you all.

I am reading blogs

But often I have nothing to say, or blogger makes it impossible.

Yesterday it wouldn't let me reply to blogs, even though I could load them to read them.

I can read them quite nicely through Wordpress; but then I have to load blogger to reply and... you see where this is going.

We are getting closer to getting our manufactured trailer; but not quite there yet.

If I could live in 70 degree weather year round, it would be perfect.

I hope you all are doing well. Be safe and God bless!

Had a great time at the flea market yesterday

We even ate at a restaurant.

And no, no pictures.

Except for this.

That was a first for this flea market. :)

You all be safe and God bless.

Weather and stuff

I prefer WordPress for my blog reading now.

I post a bit there; but it's smarter than me, haha.

The farm is just North and a little West of Opelousas.

You all be safe and God bless.

Suggestions please

Those of you who are technically minded.

My old travel laptop crapped. So do I get a new laptop?

Do they make... Notepad type things which can browse the internet as well as let you read books?

Appreciate any opinions. Thank you, be safe and God bless. 🙂

19 September 2020

It was a gorgeous day yesterday.  Had a nice time at the flea market. Bought some sheets for the RV and an old, round style tupperware container.

We stopped at a place called Billy's Boudin and Cracklins for some fresh cracklins.

And at home, I saw this.

I do love spider lilies.

You all be safe and God bless.

Ok, now I begin to despise blogger

My reading list will NOT come up first.

Pretty much every blog is giving me a redirect warning, forcing me to have to click twice to read.

Ugh!

You all be safe and God bless. ❤️

A little request

Hello everyone. You may have seen this before, but in an effort to help my son I am asking that if you  can, please help him raise some funds to help with legal fees to help my son fight something he is not guilty of.

Thank you for your time and consideration. God bless.

Our home to be

You remembered I mentioned a manufactured home.
We need more yard cleanup done before they will be able to hook into the septic tank.
Hubby decided he wants gas instead of propane, so we need to get that done.
We will salvage the 80 gallon propane water heater we bought a year or so ago, though, and figure a way to hook it into the new place somehow. The most they come with is a 40 gallon water heater.

The dealer seems to think maybe September, but with all the covid stuff, I don't know. I thought maybe October. I know lumber costs have gone up about $6000.

All in God's hands.  :)

So if you are curious, here is a rough outline.

We opted for a different bathroom. That's why the masking tape.

Small compared to the old farmhouse; but it will seem a lot bigger after this apartment.  :-)

Going to V/Watts this weekend. See some friends we haven't seen in months and get some eggs.

You all be safe and God bless.

Pecan season

Is almost here.

We lost a bit over half of the trees old enough to produce.
But at least one is giving it a go. :)

Thank God for all your blessings. Be safe and God bless.
