Almost finished.

I went out yesterday and mowed in the pasture for about four hours. Maybe a little longer. I know I wasn't sweating when I decided I should stop. The pasture is almost finished. Still a little section I call the triangle section. And we still have the main yard to do. But I am sore and think it may be a bit before I mow more.
Why do we call it the pasture? Because this used to be a farm, and pigs, chickens and cattle use to roam there. :-)

I like watching the egrets, even when they don't come in the yard. There has been quite the convention across the bayou. They don't stay there long; but I have seen them, in bigger numbers, 2 or 3 times now this year. Don't remember seeing them like that before, but I could have missed them.

Sorry about the quality. My phone doesn't zoom real well. I'll try to take our real camera out sometime.

I tried to get a few pictures to show how muddy it still was, but for some reason I didn't want to take pictures of all the new ruts. Ha! (Many of which were made by hubby when he insisted on mowing with the tractor thirty minutes or less after the rain stopped.) Now to be fair, I made ruts, too, but not as deep because I use a riding mower. ;-)

In the last two pictures, the real shiny spots are caused by standing water, and the grayish spots (a little shadier) are also from standing water. Going to be a washboard out there the next time we mow. UGH!

By the time we are finished with the whole yard, it will be time to mow again. And I still have to run the sweeper to pick up all the cut grass. Busy busy.

Went out to mow more of the pasture, since we got rained out yesterday. It was beautiful this morning.

You can see on the left of the bottom picture where I didn't get that section finished. Hubby likes to do the pasture in sections. I got that one section finished and started the next one.
There is a cold front coming down and you could see it in the clouds.

So, I said a little prayer to the Lord and asked Him to let me get that second part finished today. It seems He was pleased with that, because the sun came out where we were mowing.

Northwest of us there was still thunder. East of us, in Fifth Ward, Marksville and Mansura, There was rain.

As I was finishing up, it started getting cloudy. I told hubby I was going in. (I had already been mowing a few hours.)

I asked the Lord to watch over my hubby because he said he was going to stay out and mow. And it wasn't long after I came in and washed off the bug spray and sunscreen when

It poured.
Hubby sent me a message that he was hanging out in the trailer.
After it stopped raining he went out to mow some more, but it wasn't long before he came in and told me there was a big puddle out between three of our pecan trees. It always does that in that spot after a heavy rain.
But I thank the Lord for watching over us and letting us get a little farther along with our mowing!

So we got a new RV. - Warning. A bit picture intensive.

Hoping to do a little traveling if the world doesn't go down the river without a paddle.

I expect you can click on the picture and it will get a little bigger. It has an electric tongue jack. I would have shown you the whole front, but it is luvbug season and we haven't washed it yet.
If you really want to know what the front looks like, look up Rockwood Mini Lite 2606WS on your search engine of choice and I am sure you can find a picture. The trailer is three or four feet shorter than our old trailer, which you may remember we finally left here in 2010 to live in while we were making the house more or less livable. Anyway, one of the reasons that trailer got left here is it was a pain to get in the gate. The gate is an old cattle gap gate. OLD. And while the cattle gap has long ago filled in, it is a fixed width. And there are the drainage ditches between property and road. Anyway, hubby said he had no problem getting the new trailer in. It also is a lot lighter than our old trailer, being mostly aluminum. It weighs in at just under 6000 pounds as it comes from the dealer.

It has a large pass through area. And the doors are magnetic. I like that. No latches to break and land the door on your head. It comes with an outside grill if you don't want to heat the inside of the trailer in summer.

It has electric stabilizers and an electric awning. And the appropriate tools if you have no electricity.

A drawback of the electric stabilizers is that they to not level the trailer. The blocks in front of the steps are so I can get in easier. It has a ladder on the back, which neither hubby nor I will ever use; but we may think of something to do with it, haha!

Entry, control panel and entertainment unit with storage cabinets. The TV swings out, but is not on a swing arm. It swings out in case for some reason you might want to watch it outside - where there is a mount and cable connection for it. There is some storage behind the TV as well, though I don't know what I would want to put there.

Theater seats that face the TV, the dining area. I had lowered the table and was trying to figure out how to make the legs fold up completely when it just tipped all the way up and ended where it is. It is a snug enough fit for a parked trailer, so I left it there for now. It makes a good spot for the cat's litter box. The stove, fridge, counter sink area. Don't know if I mentioned the seats heat. Good for sore backs!

Bedroom. That is a small cabinet and closet area that slides in for travel.

We looked at dozens of trailers from probably a dozen dealers. This big shower is what sold hubby on this trailer. Has a medicine cabinet and a linen closet for towels and what not.

I like the shades, too. There are three options. Completely open, daytime light and night time.

Pretty neat.

Lots of little storage spaces here and there. Good for short trips of a week or so, which is all we are thinking of right now. Don't know if we would drive the ALCAN again, though we did back in the 70's when we got assigned to bases in Alaska. Never took the ferry; but I don't know if the ferry does vehicles with RVs.

This was just to point out some of the storage, some of which you probably already noticed. With the dinette, you can also lift the seats up to get into the storage area. And if you need more storage space under the bed than the three drawers provide, you can lift the foot of the bed for storage.

So that, I think, is enough to give you all, and my Mom, an idea of what our new trailer is like. You all be safe and God bless.
