Music. Got to love it. I love it when I'm happy, I love it when I'm sad or annoyed. It can always pick me up again.
I love the blogs I read, too. They keep me grounded in reality and what really matters.
I just can't listen to the news any more. It's always full of spite and name calling and idiots and just really annoys me, you know?

So thank you all for being here to give me my 'Calgon' moment, haha. So yes, I'm going to read blogs and 'take myself away' from the fact that I think my washer is going to break in the next day or two...

My view of supermoon

Sorry for the quality. My camera is too stupid to take night pictures, but it's smart enough that I can't figure out how to take pictures any way but auto.
I read somewhere that they don't believe the superstition that super moons cause natural disasters. (The pull of gravity being stronger with the moon closer.)
But after all the terrible things that have happened in the last few weeks, they'd have a hard time convincing me of that.

My son and some of his friends have commented that the moon looks tilted. I'd have to say that's proof that the Japan earthquake did indeed tilt the earth's axis a bit.
Though the folks at NASA are pretty sure we won't be able to notice it, so maybe the view of the moon is just a figment of our imagination because it's closer.

Ah well. Happy Sunday, everyone! :)

I suppose I really should show you

the pump house. Since that's the reason we went down to the farm this trip. ;-)

Old pump house.

It's partially demolished in this picture. We're going to reuse the wood for something, just don't know what yet. You'll remember I posted a couple other pictures of it here.
Anyway, here is the pretty new one.

You'll notice none of the pipe is wrapped. I did wrap it before we left, and hubby apologized a lot because he said I did a really good job of wrapping it, but he decided to change the setup because when we got there we had to prime the pump and it wasn't an easy job. So he dismantled the old pipe and put in some... ball valve type thingies in hopes of an easier job next time. Though he's hoping with the new pipe there won't be a next time.

The pump house isn't really that nice looking any more. He was telling me how the old one had been painted red - and we found a bit of wood that still looked a little red. But I didn't want a red one, so I painted it blue.
But I didn't like my work so I didn't take a picture, haha.
We also had to add a string release for the door latch because while I was painting the roof, hubby closed himself in the pump house and - no latch inside.

We weren't able to salvage the tin roof, because the wood was very rotten. :|
But this one actually doesn't look half bad the way it is.
And we will be insulating the inside, and we have a little light to mount, too. Hubby didn't want to, and we probably don't really need it as the power box mounts to the security light the electric company charges for, but I wanted one, so he found an incandescent one that can be left on for a bit of heat in the winter.
And we bought extra bulbs for it.

And you see that nice clean fence-line behind it? That's probably where I got the poison ivy at...

So

According to CNN , the earthquake actually MOVED  Japan and shifted the earth's axis. They thought the same thing happened in the Chile earthquake.
This will have to affect the weather. All we can do is wait and see how.

Did I tell you

I found out a month or so ago that we actually have water on the property.
Not talking about the well, but we actually have a bit of bayou.
I'm a nut, I know, but I was unrealistically thrilled, or some such, to find this out.
Not that we can do anything with it. The road right of way cuts right through the corner of our property - well, curves through it.
But here it is, none-the-less.

According to hubby, the property line goes about to the middle of the of the bayou there. :)
Of course, it's not really good for anything but wally gators.
And maybe crawfish.
But probably snakes, and definitely turtles. We get them in the yard, crazy animals.

Wordless Wednesday

Anyone recognize this?

Took it with my phone, sorry for the quality. After I got into the poison ivy, I started clearing stuff in the yard instead.
There have been these... bushes, I guess you'd call them, growing by the gate oak. Well, I decided they didn't need to be there, so I cut them down. As I was gathering them for the burn pile, I realized there were red berries growing on them.

Hubby figures it was probably some sort of holly, perhaps seeded from the bush in the pasture. I should try to take a better picture of that sometime, too, I guess.

And of course after I realized there were berries, I wondered if anything had been eating them. Oh well. Whatever it was, it was really scraggly. Looked like a weedy bush. And really, the tree probably didn't need it growing there.

I'm just rambling now, haha, so I'll say Happy Sunday to you all. :)

Flowery Friday

Thought I would share some of the flower pictures I took at the farm.
In addition to not needing to mow, there were hundreds of daffodils. Okay, maybe not hundreds, but it seemed like it.
Made it hard to mow when the hubby finally decided to give the front yard a once over. I have no idea where they all came from. I guess someone at some time, must have been very busy.

All those green clumps are daffodils, they just hadn't bloomed yet. 

I was also happily surprised to see the Camellia bush, well tree, was blooming, too. :)

Seems like it didn't mind the freezing weather at all.

So I've been trying to decide what to post

about our trip. I thought I'd start with a few pictures.
We were shocked. We didn't have to mow when we got there! Yay for cold weather?

And the grass actually looked like grass. Was really a boost to our spirits. :-)
Of course we did mow a little, but more about that at a later date. Still trying to catch up/keep up.

So, I got drugs

from the doctor for my poison ivy. Hubby figured after a week with the rash not getting any better, I needed to see the doctor. So I did.
Got an 8 day steroid tablet thing, a medical Benadryl equivalent that makes me sleepy, and some hyped up cortisone cream and Nystatin cream.

Also found out from the doctor that the effects of poison ivy are additive, I think is the word? She said probably the first time I contacted poison ivy I probably didn't even get a rash.
But I sure got it this time. Not good. We may have to consider hiring someone to clear the fence line. I was thinking of borrowing some goats. A friend knows someone who has some, but that will only clear our side of the fence and we need to clear it all to have any chance of getting rid of the ivy.

So basically, I'll have to do laundry every day we're there. Rugs, too, since the doctor said clothes can leave traces to get reinfected with. Ugh.
Oh well, at least the rash is looking better.
