Happy April.

Definitely been a wet and windy start. Already had plenty of flowers of the wild variety in March so didn't need the April showers for May flowers.
But God knows best. :)

Anyway, We got a new truck cap for the pickup to hopefully do a better job of keeping hubby's power chair dry when traveling.

Looking from left to right, the second window opens. Same on the other side. We have two 12 volt refrigerator freezers in the truck bed now also. Won't hold a deer or anything like that, but they will do for a trip to the base commissary or some such. :)

That step ladder lets me reach inside to the refrigerators more easily, where I can change the settings should we need them to all freeze, or refrigerate, etc.
Yes, that is a spare diesel tank. Had to change out the motor/filler thingy. That's why it is all pretty and clean. And why we needed a top with windows on both sides. Fill from one side, pump from the other. Really helps when we tow our RV.

I might remember to take a picture with his chair actually inside. And the little tool box we got to replace the drop in tool box we had. We'll see.
We lose a bit of truck functionality this way, but the important thing is to keep his chair dry. Was hard to do before. The cover they provide is nice, but a real pain. And then they tell you to put a ziploc bag around the control portion to keep it dry. Meaning they know the cover didn't. The velcro closure that the lift strap had to go through would get abraded by the velcro because it was hard to keep the wind from blowing the cover around. Not to mention if it was nice when we left - and didn't cover the chair - and it started raining, we'd have to find shelter, unload his chair, put the cover over it and reload the chair. Ugh! I praise God that was never a problem since we got it. :)

I can't say enough good things about the little place that helped us measure, order and install the cap. Buccaneer Truck Stuff. (This is a facebook link. They don't have an actual website.) They had a lot of things to do to get it on, not the least of which was they had to move the chair lift so the rotating arm would operate properly with the cap on.

Hubby's new power chair

If I remember right, it weighs 350 pounds. We went to the Lafayette Jockey Lot Flea Market yesterday, and he was able to go through all of it relatively easily with this chair, except for some of the entrances. The market had put gravel at all the entrances to create ramps, but weather has worn them down quite a bit.
He was very happy and said his chair will help him with flea markets and Air Museums.
He met an Air Force retiree while we were there, and they had a good chat, too.
As you can see, we had a gorgeous Saturday!

The little baggy is because the people who installed the lift and put the chair together (a small business does it for the VA) told us that keeping the controller dry was very important.
We do have a cover for the chair (which he won't use in nice weather because it blocks the rear view mirror more than the chair alone), but this is a little added extra.

So there you have it. We see many more flea market trips in our future!
