Not much to post about

Trying to do a bit of catching up today, blogwise.
Had a few friends over yesterday who hadn't been able to make it to the reunion. We did a small crawfish boil for them, with a little of our sweet corn that we managed to save from the 'coons...

I have a new respect for small farmers, that's for sure. :-)

We still have Wisteria blooming.
The cicadas are starting to make their noise music.

So, tomorrow I will be another year older, haha! We're going to see Despicable Me 2! Some days I start to feel it a little bit. Especially with all the changes to our lives this last year. I'll be... wait for it.... 29. Haha!! Sorry. Not really. I'll be 61. Gosh. Where does the time go?

And this Saturday we celebrate our 39th anniversary. We're thinking of going out to dinner. Want to do a few things we won't be able to do after hubby gets his shoulder surgery next Thursday the 11th. He's ready for it now, as he says it has been bothering him more and more.

For those of you who celebrate it, have a Safe, Happy 4th of July. ♥

  2. I seen to remember an old timer saying that the corn was ready to harvest a few days after the racoons started to eat it in the field. Any truth to this, and how soon before your harvest? Thanks, and have a great anniversary. Definitely go out to dinner!!!

    1. I read that online, K. And I believe it! We had some that is over-ripe, and some that is ripening, and a lot that was eaten by the coons.

      Thanks, K!

  3. Happy, happy birthday, anniversary and independence day all together.

    You are still very young.

That corn looks good...what is left that is. Raccoons are pretty smart.

  4. Happy birthday Sis!
And in your honor, I took the day off and we're having steaks on the grill! Which we almost never have since the price of beef has gone thru the roof!
Enjoy the day. You'll never be this 'young' again!

  7. You're a young one! Hope you had a happy birthday and great anniversary, though it sounds like the surgery was tugging you guys from normal life. It happens and it makes us stronger. As for the corn, we keep trying as well. I don't know how far we'll get with vegetable garden plantings out here in the country since we got settled so late into the season.
